Maintenance: The wood is treated with a water-based layer that protects against water stains. However, it is recommended to use the furniture only indoors and not to leave liquids on the wood for an extended period, and to wipe it dry if spilled. Minor damage or scratches in the wood with a natural color can be treated only at the specific spot using a light-colored oil (for teak wood).
LOFT Collection: The Loft collection is made from teak wood. Teak wood has been the preferred hardwood for furniture making, construction, and shipbuilding for centuries, primarily because it is very durable and suitable for outdoor use. Almost all teak wood in Indonesia used for furniture production comes from plantations designated for export and manufacturing. Only teak wood from smaller farms is used for local production.
Since 2016, the Indonesian government has also regulated all timber trade through a system that tracks all exported wood back to the place where the trees were felled. This is part of the FLEGT trade agreement with the European Union, which ensures that only legal wood is imported into the EU.
These aspects together make teak production in Indonesia and its use for furniture both economically and ecologically sustainable.
The wood used for the Loft collection does not come from the trunk, but from the base and root structure of teak trees. This results in rounder and more irregular grains in the wood, which sometimes creates a special effect and more color variations. The iron legs of the products from the Loft collection are covered with a powder coating that provides harder protection against corrosion and scratching compared to regular varnish.
