Freedom in the interior
"When I see clients in our showroom, how their eyes shine, my heart leaps. And when they tell me that the beauty around them energizes them and gives them inspiration, then I know that our path to helping people create their unique home is the right one and makes sense."
"You often confide in me that something like this has been missing in the market. A place that doesn't look like a big well-known department store. A place that shows you how to play and combine in your interior. A place that shows you that even different styles can be beautifully combined and fit together like a puzzle."
"When I lived in England, I loved browsing antiques, flea markets, small independent shops, and concept stores with home accessories and furniture. There, I felt that I would snag something truly unique that I would enjoy for a long time, if not for a lifetime. It was not just a pleasant shopping experience, but mainly a great source of inspiration and the feeling that I had something different from others. It simply wasn't 'just a store.'"
"And it is no coincidence that during the great move back to my homeland, I brought my English home with me. In any case, England has been a great inspiration for me in how people shape their homes throughout their lives, piece by piece and more consciously. In their homes, I felt that emotions, memories, and character were imprinted over all those years. And there I discovered the eclectic style."
What is actually eclectic style in interior design?
Eclectic style is mainly about harmony and the combination of diverse styles, textures, and contrasting colors into a unified and tasteful whole. It also deserves great attention precisely because of the freedom, experimentation, and playfulness it brings.
"Because I am a supporter of eclecticism in general, I would like to share at least some basic tips for those of you who want to embark on this path of freedom. However, the following lines that you will read should only inspire you and you do not have to be restricted by them."
1/ Choose a palette of shades around which you will decorate.
"To avoid it looking too wild right away, I recommend starting with one neutral shade and one contrasting one. Choose a color that you enjoy, that you like, but keep in mind the size of the room. Generally speaking, a larger room can accommodate a dark color, while a smaller room is better suited for light and neutral shades."
2/ A clean wall is easier for placing decorations.
A painted wall is easier for placing various decorations than a patterned wallpaper. You don't have to have just a white wall; you can have a dark or light one in different color shades. Darker colors add warmth and depth, while lighter ones enlarge the space and make decorations more visible.
3/ Warm up with patterns and materials
Here, the eclectic style is truly exceptional, so don't be afraid and have fun. With accessories like cushions, blankets, curtains, wallpapers, rugs, sofas, etc., try to mix and don't shy away from bolder patterns. Continue with similar tones that you have set as your main palette of shades, but don't be afraid to disrupt them with combinations that may not seem to go together at first glance.
The same applies to materials. Try combining smooth and soft with a rough rustic surface. For example, I will mention an elegant velvet sofa with cushions next to a modern rustic table. You will be surprised how well it goes together! Don't forget, your home is like a canvas and only you can make it interesting, appealing, and unique.
4/ Combine different furniture styles
The next game is a combination of diverse furniture styles, and believe me, this is what we all fear the most. A grandmother's table, an elegant sofa, a modern mirror, and a rustic dresser? No, that can't go together. But it can, and you can even create something truly valuable, unique, and timeless. Trust me, you can combine the old with the new, the modern with the classic. Use what you already have at home and just bring in a new contrast.
5/ Wall as a gallery
"Pictures give us imagination and inspiration, while photos preserve memories, so why keep them in an album, or worse, on a computer? Create a wall from them, a mini gallery."
"Think about what color palette you will use, both for the frames and for the posters and photos. Combine frames of different sizes, made from various materials like metal or wood. Mix old frames (check out a flea market) with new ones. I recommend placing them on a uniformly painted wall to achieve the right effect."
6/ Object of interest
This object should be striking, interesting, and should attract the attention of everyone as soon as they enter the room. Just one such piece of decoration or furniture is enough. It could be a painting, an atypical mirror, a designer light, etc.
7/ Beware of excessive chaos
In eclectic style, less is more. Everything should have its place and purpose. Do not overcrowd the room with too many decorations. I recommend making changes gradually, so you have enough time to get used to the style you are creating and to fine-tune it gradually.
And what is the advice in conclusion?
"Stick to what brings you joy. Create a home where you will enjoy living. A home where you will love every single detail and, above all, it will reflect your personality. Let your imagination run wild, free yourself, and have fun experimenting. And don't forget, at CO.DE coffee & design, we are always happy to help you with your selection."
Have a nice day!
